Regina Hall stands out in this low-fi workplace dramady. And there are good contributions from Haley Lu Richardson and Junglepussy too (yes, that’s the name she goes by – her real name is Shayna McHale). It’s a decent movie, funny at times, and it has an intriguing underlying commentary on gender roles and workplace politics. It’s got something to say about a very American-feeling contradiction in regards to female sex appeal, which is often over-utilized in consumer culture to sell products, while being simultaneously frowned upon from a moral perspective. In Double Whammies (the restaurant setting of the film), they try to sell both the sex appeal and good ole American family values. And it produces a confusing, sometimes volatile workplace for these women to survive in. Much like the country at large.
